This site loads a script called Google Tag Manager, which in turn loads Google Analytics 4. Until you accept cookies, no analytics cookie is set on your browser at all. Google still receives a single anonymous count that a page was viewed, but nothing that identifies you or your visit is stored.
What is set after you accept
Once you accept, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies. One is called _ga and the other is _ga_ followed by a string unique to this site. Between them they let the site tell one visitor from another and one visit from another, so we can count how many people read a page and which pages get read. They do not carry your name or anything else that identifies you as a person.
How your choice is remembered
Your decision, accept or decline, is stored in your browser's local storage under the key cc_v1. Local storage is not a cookie. It is a separate piece of browser storage that the site checks before deciding whether to show the cookie notice again, which is why the notice does not reappear on every page once you have made a choice.
Changing your mind
A small Cookies control sits at the bottom left of every page and reopens the choice whenever you want it. Withdrawing consent switches Google Analytics off and deletes every _ga cookie the site has set, both on this domain and on advertise.co.uk itself.
Where the data goes
Analytics data collected after you accept is sent to Google and handled under Google's own privacy terms. Google sets out the detail of how it uses data from sites using its tools on its own page covering partner sites and analytics, and that is the place to read the current terms.

To ask what is held about you, or to have it removed, use the contact page. It helps to include roughly when you visited and which pages, so the request can be matched to the right data.

This page is updated, with the date of the update shown, whenever what the site actually does changes. If a new tool or script is added that sets a cookie, this page will say so before or as soon as it happens.
