This site uses Google Tag Manager, a tool that loads other scripts on the page without changing anything you see, to bring in Google Analytics 4 (Google's visitor-counting service). Until you accept cookies, no analytics cookie is set on your device. Google receives only an anonymous count that a page was loaded, with nothing that ties that visit to you.

What is set after you accept

Once you accept, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies: one named _ga and one named _ga_ followed by a string of letters and numbers specific to this site. Between them they let the site tell one visitor from another and one visit from another, which is how it counts visits and sees which pages get read. Neither cookie carries a name, an email address, or anything else that identifies you personally.

How your choice is remembered

Your decision is stored in your browser's local storage, under a key called cc_v1. Local storage is not a cookie: it sits in the browser. It is what stops the cookie notice reappearing every time you move to a new page on the site.

Changing your mind

A small Cookies control sits at the bottom-left of every page and reopens the choice at any point. Withdrawing consent switches Google Analytics off and deletes every _ga cookie this site has set, both on the site itself and on its parent domain.

Where the data goes

Any analytics data collected after acceptance goes to Google, and is handled under Google's own privacy terms. Those terms, including how Google uses data from sites that use its tools, are set out on Google's page on technologies used by partner sites.
