Ad of the Day: Tesla Thinks This Fan-Made Ad Is Out of This World, and You Will Too

How do you impress Elon Musk? Combine two of his favorite things into one incredible spec commercial. That's what the enterprising creatives at Everdream Pictures did with the impressive homemade spot below for Tesla Motors, which Musk runs as CEO and chief product architect. Wisely, they gave it an extraterrestrial theme, likely thinking that would also appeal to Musk, who founded SpaceX as well.  The result? Fawning tweets from both Tesla and its CEO—along with a tacit promise from the latter that the electric-car maker will hire Everdream for paid work in future.

Activia Shows That Inside Shakira's Famous Stomach Are ... More Shakiras!

Activia managed to drag Shakira out of wherever she's been hiding and put her in the brand's new "Dare to Feel Good" ad, which gives us an interesting and cartoonishly idealized peek into the pop singer's digestive tract. No wonder she's so perky all the time. It looks like Fern Gully in there. And here I thought Shakira felt good because she's beautiful and rich. In any case, Activia's ads bother me in the sense that I can't take adults seriously when they say the word "tummy" and aren't talking to or about a child.

If it sometimes seems as though summer blockbuster trailers use the same tricks to advertise what seem to be the exact same movie over and over again, that's because they do. The trailers for Captain America: Winter Soldier, Godzilla, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Amazing Spiderman and Jupiter Ascending all hit the same highs and lows, have the same rhythm and beats, and as this 90-second supercut shows, match massive explosions to intense gazes with plodding predictability.

Sanitary issues aside (what happens when pigeons crap in it?), the stunt is meant to raise questions about urban planning and how to avoid the high costs of traditional infrastructure.

Ashley Furniture Launches Creative and Media Agency Review

Ashley Furniture is looking for a new creative and media agency. The Arcadia, Wis.-based chain’s search is in the early stages and the national retailer is offering up $50 million of its annual media spending, according to sources. “Ashley Furniture HomeStores has decided to review their current approach to advertising, with the idea of identifying the best marketing agency to assist us in achieving our goals,” the retailer said in a statement issued through Boston-based consulting firm Pile + Co., which is managing the review.
