U.K. Watchdog Puts a Lid on Rihanna's Sultry Perfume Ad

Britain's Advertising Standards Authority is once again stepping in to save us all, this time from a saucy ad for Rihanna's perfume, Rogue. The ad, which is basically a nude Rihanna sandwiched between a wall and a giant perfume bottle, is too "sexually suggestive" to be seen in areas heavily trafficked by children, the U.K. watchdog group has decided. The specific complaints addressed the ad's placement on elevator doors in a shopping mall.

Adweek's Top 5 Commercials of the Week: June 1-6

If you haven't yet contracted a case of World Cup fever yet, you will by the time you finish watching this week's best ads. Neymar Jr. and a host of other stars immerse themselves in pre-game rituals for Beats by Dre; a certain famous group of Chilean miners talk about beating the odds in a spot for Banco de Chile; and a series of soccer stunts for McDonald's are so amazing that viewers questioned whether they're really CGI.

The two co-creative chiefs of OgilvyWest in Los Angeles are moving to New York as global executive creative directors at McCann Erickson. Impressionist Classics Finally Come Into Focus in Clever Eyewear Ads

Tell the art history majors to leave the room, because here's a campaign that will make creative types jealous and will make purists' eyes bleed. In a campaign that's new to us but appears to have been running for a while now, Y&R Paris has created a series of ads for eyewear retailer KelOptic showing Impressionist paintings brought into focus. The tagline is "turning impressionism into hyperrealism." Another case of advertising sullying some of mankind's greatest artistry? Sure.

Millennials Use Ads to Fight Hunger

City Harvest and the 4A's will work together to put a face on hunger in New York with the #kNOwhunger campaign, which will feature real New Yorkers who are struggling with hunger.  The idea for the multiplatform campaign came out of the daylong Advertising Doing Something event held yesterday in New York and sponsored by the 4A's, Horizon Media and AOL, where 120 millennial advertising and media professionals gathered to brainstorm about ways to combat one of our most pervasive social issues.  "A little over a year ago, we decided that it was time to get a voice for this younger generatio

Did Beats by Dre Just Out-Nike Nike With This Incredible World Cup Ad?

Good lord, Beats by Dre is getting great at sports commercials. We wrote at length last month about how the music company and ad agency R/GA have teamed up to make some of the year's best sports ads—with Kevin Garnett, Colin Kaepernick, Richard Sherman and Cesc Fabregas. But nothing could prepare us for this five-minute World Cup extravaganza. It's about pre-game rituals, yes, but Beats is proving to be surprisingly adept at all aspects of the sports ad game—which at times like these is supposed to be the purview of Nike and Adidas.

Ad of the Day: WestJet Surprises a Hardworking Dad With the Sweetest Gift for Father's Day

Even on Father's Day, advertising has plenty of fun at Dad's expense. But Canadian airline WestJet has just raised the bar with a Father's Day ad that captures everything we admire about fathers: their courage, their sacrifice, and how we desperately need them. Having to work back in their hometown, Marc Grimard was separated from his youngest son Joel, who is living at Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton as he receives treatment for a congenital heart defect.
