Bob Costas, the well-known NBC Sports anchor from New York, will be taking a break from the Olympic coverage tonight to recover from his eye infection as he allows Today Show host Matt Lauer to fill in for him during his recovery process. This year, Costas has been having it rough in Sochi, where all of his time on screen has been behind glasses with a visible eye infection. Now, it’s time for Lauer to take the spotlight in Costa’s stead.

Tom Brokaw Has Cancer, Asks For Privacy

Through a statement longtime NBC anchor Tom Brokaw has shared that he is currently being treated for cancer.
Brokaw, who now works as a special correspondent reveals that he had actually been diagnosed with multiple myeloma back in August of last year.
NBC News released confirmation of Brokaw’s illness for the first time in a tweet on Tuesday.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the ABC network announced the Frozen star will be performing at the 86th Academy Awards. Menzel, who was the star voiceover artist for the leading role of Elsa, the Snow Queen, will perform “Let It Go” from the film’s motion picture soundtrack.

Katie Uhlaender is a 29-year-old skeleton racer from Breckenridge, Colorado, who is currently competing in the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Uhlaender has been competing in skeleton racing since 2003, and she is also a two-time gold medal recipient from the Women’s Skeleton World Cup (2006 and 2007). For her involvement in this year’s Olympics in Sochi, Uhlaender has turned to Twitter to ask the public’s opinion about the helmet she will wear when she races.

The U.S. Bans Commerical Ivory Trade

In an effort to combat the ivory trade and subsequent slaughter of elephants to obtain the precious ivory, the U.S. has placed an all out “ban” on all ivory – raw, as well as ivory products.
Sadly, almost 6 tons of raw and carved ivory from well over 1,000 elephants were crushed and removed from the black market in the United States’ with their latest push to combat poaching.

Yoga Pants Ban in Massachusetts High School

Recently, a ban on yoga pants and leggings has been placed on students at a high school in Rockport, MA. This new rule has resulted in students and parents saying the policy goes too far.
Rockport’s High School dress code states that students are prohibited from wearing the pants while students say the policy hasn’t been unforced until recently.
The newly reinforced rule sprouted from expressed concerns from faculty members. They were bothered that the students weren’t complying with the dress code policy in the student handbook.
