Jade Rabbit Now a Piece of Space Junk

There’s a bit of sad news in the space world today; China’s lunar rover, affectionately named Jade Rabbit, bit the dust.
Jade Rabbit, known as Yutu in Chinese, was a milestone in China’s space program. The rover landed on the moon late last year and observed and explored the surface remotely. A malfunction last month, however, caused the rover to stop working.

Matt Lauer will fill in for Bob Costas again tonight. It seems Costas can’t beat his eye infection in Sochi. This will mark the second night in a row that Lauer will fill in for the NBC anchor.
The veteran NBC sportscaster phoned in to the Today show to give an update about his current eye condition and to tell Lauer he needs to “come out of the bullpen again tonight.”
“Actually, I don’t feel that bad,” Costas said.

LeBron James of course knows that there is no Mount Rushmore of the NBA. However, if there was, the Miami Heat superstar thinks that his face should eventually be carved into it. A clip from an interview with NBA TV’s Steve Smith asking King James who his personal Mount Rushmore was leaked online. James told Smith that the easy three would be: Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan.

China Earthquake: A 6.9-magnitude Shakes the Hotan Province

On Wednesday, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck one of China’s most abundant northwestern regions of natural resources.
The Xinjiang region endured several tremors within a two-hour timespan. Twenty of them were recorded as a series of aftershock.
The earthquake mainly occurred in southeast Hotan, a county-level city known for its terrestrial mountains.
