Simon Cowell’s latest attempt to salvage The X Factor has come to naught, as Fox on Friday said it has pulled the plug on the series.  Acknowledging the end of his stateside tenancy, Cowell said he would return to the United Kingdom now that his U.S. follow-up to American Idol has been whacked after three underwhelming seasons. “I’ve had a fantastic time over the last 12 years, both on The X Factor and American Idol,” said Cowell, by way of confirming the end of the series.

A Cal football player passed away Friday after collapsing during a training drill with his teammates.
Ted Agu, 21, of the University of California Golden Bears, was reportedly having trouble completing the usual morning workout routine at Memorial Stadium.
Medical staff transported him on a cart to the Simpson Center’s medical facility where he then collapsed and was given emergency CPR. Agu was immediately transferred to a local hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Penney's latest effort to attract lapsed customers includes a new tagline, "when it fits, you feel it."The tagline has so far appeared in two ads -- a Valentine's Day-themed spot, as well as "Rise," which aired during the Opening Ceremonies for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. An Iowa police chief found a 6-day-old baby boy Friday who was abducted Thursday morning from his cradle in a Wisconsin home.
Kayden Powell was found 250 miles away from home outside a gas station in West Branch, Iowa.
Forty police officers were dispatched to a 911 call in search of the infant.
FBI agent G.B. Jones reported that the baby’s cries led police officers to the exact location during the search.
