The LEGO Movie will set surprisingly high box office numbers this weekend. Critical praise and a great marketing strategy won the film most of its viewers, but the LEGO’s main selling point was its family appeal. Children and parents can enjoy the film equally: parents view a visually sophisticated and complex animated feature, while the younger viewers see something kid-friendly.
In not-so shocking news, Fox has decided to cancel The X Factor. Simon Cowell, one of the series’ judges and the show’s creator, announced his plans to return to the original U.K. version. Soon after, Fox announced its cancelation.
Simon Cowell has one less thing to do now that The X Factor is done and over with in the United States. The music mogul will remain busy despite the big hit to his pride and his pocketbook. He will serve as one of the judges on the U.K. version of The X Factor.
For those couples that are of the same sex, it appears as if things are only going to get better for your partnerships and lives. Not only are more states opening their doors to acceptance of same-sex marriage, now the Federal Government is extending privileges to those who were married in the eyes of the law, but barely acknowledged.
George Harrison might not have made it on to the Ed Sullivan Show back in 1964 had it not been for the vigilant watch of his older sister Louise. Harrison arrived in New York with the Beatles for the famous Ed Sullivan Show gig as well as a few other performances in February of 1964, but he was immediately deemed much quieter than the rest. George Harrison, it seems, was suffering from a horrendous case of strep throat and had a temperature of 104 degrees.
It appears that Valentine’s Day will be very special this year for newly engaged television star Lauren Conrad and her hubby-to-be, William Tell.
On Monday Feb. 3, Conrad shared photos on her web site via a blog post titled “Letter from Lauren: Fall In Love February.”
It has been said that the spirit of great music remains where it was created long after the person who produced it lives. Musicians enter Electric Ladyland, Jimi Hendrix’s studio, with the awe of one who enters the Sistine Chapel. With that in mind, any aspiring musician should consider AOL Real Estate‘s report that Whitney Houston’s house is on now on sale for you to purchase.
Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke’s life resembles very little from her character’s life. The Mother of Dragons, Daenerys, regularly battles her way to the iron throne, while also trying to prove women’s leadership capability. Clarke’s life has struggles, but nothing compared to those of the khaleesi.
John Travolta, the 59 year-old father and Academy Award-nominated actor, has become the epitome of a professional in his career; he has been one of Hollywood’s top male actors (and sex symbols) for over forty years, reaching a level of success that few ever do, being cast as the leading male in film after film, decade after decade.
According to him. Travolta first broke into show business at 17, when he won his first professional role after spending two summers at a theatre camp.
Disney’s Oscar-nominated, massively popular “Frozen” soundtrack is still the No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 94,000 copies last week, for a total of four weeks now spent at the top position. (Number 2 belongs to the “2014 Grammy Nominees” compilation album.) This is huge for the animated film, as the last soundtrack to spend four weeks at the top was 2003′s “Bad Boys II.”
